
The Police in Osun on Wednesday arraigned Mr Ayoola Moses, 29, and Gafaru Akinpelu, 40, at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The men were said to have committed the offence on July 11, 2016, at about 2 p.m. at Moremi Estate, Modakeke, Ile-Ife.
Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Ona Glory, told the court that the accused conspired to commit felony and stole a red Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle with registration number MUS 352 QF, property of Omotayo Akinola.
Glory added that the accused also stole one Itel brand of mobile phone, also belonging to Akinola.
According to him, the offence is contrary to section 381 (1) and punishable under sections 390 (9), 430 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence, and their counsel, Mr Victor Arojo, applied for bail for them.
Arojo pleaded with the court to grant the application, assuring that the men would not jump bail “will produce reliable sureties’’.
The Magistrate, Mr Olalekan Ijiyode, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50, 000, with one surety each in like sum.
Ijiyode ordered that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, while their addresses should be verified by court official.
He also directed that the sureties should deposit two recent passport photographs with the court Registrar.
He adjourned the case till Sept. 29.
