Three men, Chinonso Izueke, 24; Oyam Raphael, 25; and Omokpia Ogbemudia, 26, on Thursday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State over alleged possession of six wraps of marijuana.
The accused persons whose addresses are unknown, are facing a count charge of unlawful possession.
The prosecutor, Innocent Uko told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Sept. 20 at Ajangbadi in Badagry Magisterial District.
He said that the accused persons were caught with six wraps of marijuana at a bar at Ajangbadi.
“The accused persons were smoking marijuana in the bar and they were apprehended by the security guards of the place.
“On searching them, six wraps of weeds were discovered on them and they were handed over to the police,’’ he said.
He said that the offence contravened Section 5 (1) (b) Cap. of the Indian Hemp Act, Laws of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1966.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Counsel to the accused persons, Mr Segun Omotogun, applied for bail for his client and assured that they would not skip bail.
The Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N50,000 each and three sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the case has been fixed for Oct. 6.
