The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday in Abuja inaugurated a four-member caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs in its Gombe State chapter.
Inaugurating the re-constituted committee, Alhaji Lawal Shuaibu, Deputy National Chairman of the party (North East) said the decision was taken following obvious irreconcilable differences in the earlier committee.
According to him, the earlier committee members were asked to step down for a new one, since they could not address the party`s challenges in the state.
He, however, advised APC members in Gombe state not to hesitate to inform its national leadership of anything they felt should be done to improve their well being.
Alhaji Idi Gubana, Chairman of the committee assured the party that the committee would work judiciously to deliver on its mandate.
He also said that the committee would work to address issues of parallel leadership in some local government areas in the state as well as reconcile all aggrieved party members.
He assured that the committee would harmonise all factions of the party in the state and ensure unity of members ahead of 2019 general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alhaji Sani Haruna would serve as Deputy Chairman of the committee, while Bello Maigari would serve as its Secretary and Mr Bichi Obadia as Legal Adviser.
The committee would function for an initial three months after which its tenure could be renewed unless otherwise terminated by the party`s National Working Committee. (NAN)
