Communities must take security as part of CSR, says NSCDC

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Delta State Command, has called for an active synergy between security agencies and the civil populace in the area of security.

The state Commandant, Beatrice Irabor, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba that this would assist the command to provide effective security for the citizenry especially at the grassroots.

The commandant said that when communities collaborate with security agencies by providing them security facilities, they would be playing part of their expected corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

This could be achieved through personal or corporate donations of security equipment to security agencies, she said.

The commandant commended a family in Okpanam Community for donating a security post to the command.

Irabor described the gift as a laudable achievement in the area of active collaboration between security agencies and the civil populace.

She encouraged other well meaning individuals and corporate organizations to emulate the donor.

Irabor who said that security was the business of everybody added that its implementation should not be left to security agencies alone.

She said that security was one of the basic ingredients for societal growth adding that there can be no meaningful development in any given community without adequate security.(NAN)
