
President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his administration’s resolve to lay a solid foundation for growth and development as outlined in the strategic implementation plan of the Change Agenda.
The president who gave the assurance on Thursday while declaring open the 2016 Cabinet retreat on the economy,noted that the current economic challenges facing the country require out of the box thinking which necessitated the retreat.
President Buhari who described the seminar as apt coming at a time when government is in the process of crafting the 2017 Budget, urged participants comprising Ministers and other top government functionaries as well as representatives of the private sector to come up with a position on how to improve synergies among the various ministries and departments for effective formulation and implementation of the 2017 Budget.
He said because of the need to focus on key priorities,Some ministries Will receive less capital allocation in the 2017 Budget while others will get more.
President Buhari pointed out that his administration was prepared to leverage on the private sector resources through public private partnerships in other to augment scarce budgetory resources at Government’s disposal.
The nation’s number one citizen noted That government is striving to ensure ease of doing business in Nigeria through its reforms assuring that his administration is working to turn the current challenges into opportunities for the country.
The seminar organised by the ministry of Budget and National planning has as its theme “Building Inter-Ministerial Synergy for effective planning and Budgeting in Nigeria”
