The Federal Government says it will improve national security through its technology transfer promotion initiative.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.
Onu said the initiative would encourage foreigners to bring in their technologies to enhance Nigeria’s security and other sectors in the country.
The minister explained that the initiative would serve as an economic growth engine to benefit the people in the nation.
“You notice that when the foreigners come, they always want to do their developmental work in their countries and we do not benefit from the technology and innovation.
“From now, they will bring in their technology, do the research and innovation work here; so that our people can benefit from them.
“Any foreigner that would like to invest in Nigeria should be ready to carry out research and developmental work in Nigeria.
“It will equally assist them to get huge market for their products in Nigeria and Africa,’’ Onu said.
According to him, the initiative will help to strengthen security in Nigeria and provide work to many Nigerians that lack jobs.
The minister added that the initiative would generally uphold the rising peace in the country. (NAN)
