Hon.Tony Nwulu has emerged as the UPP Governorship Candidate for the 2019 Imo state Governorship Elections.
Announcing the result of the primary election which took place at the UPP State secretariat in Owerri, Chairman of the electoral committee for the UPP governorship race in Imo, Chief Flint Obiekwe after thorough job of ensuring credible, free and fair primaries declared Hon.Tony Nwulu winner with 1096 votes against his rival Chris Chigbogu who garnered 101 votes.
At the end of the exercise, the returning officer declared the results and admonished party faithful to rally around the winner for total victory in the forthcoming Governorship Elections.
The 5-man electoral committee, which arrived Imo on Friday night, worked till morning, putting up the necessary arrangements to ensure transparent conduct.
Hon.Tony Nwulu in accepting the nomination of the United Progressive Party promises to lead the party to victory and assures to work towards restoring the lost glory of Imo state and making her great again.
The just concluded exercise brings a verdict for hundreds of aspirants who have been lobbying to get the party’s priced ticket to be candidates in the 2019 governorship and house of assembly election, which is part of the general election scheduled for February.
The two aspirants for UPP gubernatorial seat Hon .Tony Nwulu ,the House of Representative Member Representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency Lagos State and Mr. Chigbogu Nwadigo have all agreed to abide by the regulations spelt out by the committee.
Meanwhile, the outcome of the election and the result saw party faithful in a carnival mood chanting support for their candidates.
