U.S. Assistant Secretary Thomas-Greenfield on 8-day visit to Kenya, Nigeria

Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield will travel to Kenya and Nigeria between Aug. 21 and Aug.28, a statement from Information Unit, U.S. Embassy in Abuja says on Monday.

The statement said that Thomas-Greenfield would first accompany U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, on his Aug. 21 and Aug. 24 trip to Nairobi in Kenya, Sokoto and Abuja.

According to the statement, the assistant secretary will on Aug. 25 visit Lagos, where she will meet with oil industry executives, business representatives, religious leaders and U.S. consulate personnel.

It said that the assistant secretary would then return to Nairobi between Aug. 26 and Aug.28 to attend the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI).

The statement said that Thomas-Greenfield would lead the U.S. delegation to TICAD VI and would also participate in several bilateral meetings with African leaders.
