The Cross River Government will host the first International Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Expedition from Aug.5 to Aug.6.
This is contained in statement by the National Coordinator, International MSME Expedition, Mr Godfrey Ajayi, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, will inaugurate the event with a launch of a N500 billion MSME Impact Bond in Tinapa.
It said the programme was designed to effectively promote international training on MSME, tourism and conferencing, using the state of the art facilities.
“It will actively impact the MSMEs on the African continent through the instrumentality of global organising and conferencing.
“In addition to ensuring international networking and partnerships opportunities for the MSMEs, it is also designed to solve the myriads of problems faced by MSMEs.
“This is as a result of capacity deficiency, lack of access to finance and unfriendly business environment on the continent,’’ it stated.
It stated that an administrative council and the management team would be constituted at the event to ensure that MSME’s had access to finance.
It further explained that the bond would work with state governments, SMEDAN, Enterprise Development Centres, Business Development Service Providers and MSMEs in the country.
According to the statement, Osinbajo will be hosted by Gov. Ben Ayade and supported by the Governors of Akwa Ibom and Kaduna States.
It said the event, being the first edition, would involve capacity building, conference, investors’ dinner, award night and crowning of the Miss Microfinance.(NAN)
